Wesleyan University-Philippines partners with Canvas, the wAdd Neworld’s fastest-growing learning management platform, as it shifts to flexible learning this academic year.
Canvas is created by Instructure, an educational technology company based in Utah. WU-P joins more than 3,000 universities, school districts, and institutions around the world whose learning systems are powered by Canvas.
The WUP-Canvas Project Team is led by Office of Instruction Director Katherine Sawi and co-led by Mr. Edwin Alcantara, creator of W.I.S.E., WU-P’s learning management system. Its members are Dr. Gener Subia (Graduate School), Mr. John Mark Bondoc (College of Education and Law), Mr. Jhideo Tobita (CBA, HRTM), Dr. Carissa Balaria (CONAMS and Medicine), Mr. Christopher Joy Dugtong (CECT, CCJE), Rev. Jeff Lumanlan (Wesley Divinity School), Dr. Emmeline T. Arel (CAS, Medicine), Mr. Lyndon De Leon (Basic Education), and Engr. Austin Carl Enrique (Aurora Campus).
The team underwent a two-week training from Canvas, after which representatives from the departments joined another series of trainings for Canvas administration and implementation. All faculty members who will teach in the first semester are undergoing preparation on how to use Canvas for the best teaching-learning experience.
