VPAA Garcia to Summer grads: ‘Never stop learning’

September 28, 2017

Dr. Leonita Garcia, vice president for Academic Affairs, who served as guest speaker of the Summer 2017  commencement exercises held last September 28, advised the graduates not to stop learning.

“You should not stop learning. You should not stop upgrading your competencies and you must do it with the same perseverance and determination that you have demonstrated over the last four or five years in college… You can come back to WUP for your Master’s degree, Doctor’s degree, or find opportunities for self-learning strategies be it formal, informal, or non-formal professional activities,” Garcia said.

She thanked the parents of the graduates for choosing and entrusting their children’s education to Wesleyan.

She said, “Now that your respective degrees are conferred, you now receive a go signal to move forward to your next journey with your chosen career. The workplace awaits you to prove yourselves… Your alma mater is confident that the training and exposure during your OJT will enable you to perform and achieve at your best. Much more so, your alma mater has equipped you with moral values and Christian character which will be your best weapon to go and excel, to go and contribute, to go and share, to go and serve the less fortunate and disadvantaged members of our communities.”

The graduation rites were held at the Jose, Justina, Dominga Garcia Auditorium with University Pesiden Pacifico Aniag conferring the degrees and titles.

Dr. Glenn Roy Paraso, chair of the Board of Trustees, and other academic officials graced the event. ###
