Educ students pinned and consecrated for practice teaching

August 31. 2017

The College of Education (COED) held the annual pinning and consecration of pre-service teachers in the University Auditorium last August 31.

Dr. Leonita Garcia, vice president for academic affairs, was the guest speaker.

Garcia advised the pre-service teachers to go and make a difference in their student teaching, saying, “Today you are now ready to be endowed with the symbols that will give you the mandate to go and share your knowledge, talents, skills, and all that you have learned to multitudes of young people while you do student teaching. With fervent prayers, we expect you to go there and make a difference in the lives of your students.”

Dr. Clarafe Gonzales, COED dean, said, “Layunin ng ating pamantasan na sa pamamagitan ninyo [referring to the students] ay mahubog ang lipunan sa paraang maka-Dios, makatao, makakalikasan, at makabansa.”

She emphasized that pre-service teachers should not forget how they were formed the Wesleyan way and hoped this may be manifested not only in the way they teach but also in their lives. ###
