Wesleyan holds Thanksgiving Day in 74th founding anniversary celebration

February 06, 2019

The fifth day of Wesleyan’s month-long founding anniversary celebration is a thanksgiving day. A wreath-laying ceremony in honor of John Wesley, the Founder of Methodism and after whom Wesleyan University-Philippines was named, served as the kickoff of the day’s activities.

A thanksgiving service followed immediately at the university gymnasium where the faculty, staff, students and administration officials took part.

Drumbeats created by Elementary Drum and Lyre Band heightened everyone’s appreciation of John Wesley’s life and deepened the spirit of thanksgiving to God who made possible the celebration of WUP’s 74th founding anniversary.

Retired Bishop Daniel C. Arichea, the guest preacher, stressed that “If you put all your effort for Wesleyan University-Philippines without the Lord, you will fish nothing.”
