September 05,2019

Wesleyan University-Philippines conducted a Welcome Convocation, a gesture of cordial reception of new students at the start of school-year 2019-2020, spearheaded by the Office for Student Affairs.

This was the first grand activity in which more than two thousand freshmen and transferees enrolled in the different programs of the university converged at the university gymnasium to be welcomed by President Benjamin D. Turgano, the administrative and academic officials and the faculty.

In his welcome address, the University President assured the students that they have chosen an institution “that is not only dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, but also devoted, more significantly, to inspiring faith and instilling guidance that would fortify a young person’s sense of self, sense of responsibility, sense of service, and sense of reverence to God.”

The program also showcased folk and modern dances by the WUP Dance Troupe under the direction of Mr. Pastor Paulo Alejo, skit by Teatrong Laan Para sa Obra Ngayon (TELON) under the direction of Professor Mark Anthony Miranda and songs by the Wesleyan Chamber Singers under the baton of Maestro Rafael Ramirez.

Adding to this year’s event highlights was a mini concert by invited guest performers, Band San Anton 47 of San Leonardo, Nueva Ecija, under the baton of Mr. Renato Castillo.
