WU-P, Gawad Kalinga, Mega Rehab sign MOAs

A Memorandum of Agreement was signed between Wesleyan University-Philippines and Gawad Kalinga Community Development Foundation, Inc.

Under the agreement, Gawad Kalinga will provide opportunities for Wesleyan students’ community immersion and for Wesleyan employees’ outreach and research programs. Wesleyan, on the other hand, commits to assist Gawad Kalinga in its programs and activities for GK barangays, by monitoring, training, inspiring, stimulating and sustaining the growth and capacities of its people. Wesleyan will also cooperate with GK’s “Barangay Walang Iwanan Campaign”.

Another MOA was signed by WU-P and Mega Drug Abuse Treatment and Rehabilitation Center. In this agreement, Wesleyan commits to provide literacy and basic education, basic skills in information technology, occupational, business and other relevant disciplines to the rehabilitees. As provided in the MOA, Wesleyan will also conduct counseling to rehabilitees, assist them in proper nutrition and promote health. Wesleyan will have the opportunity to identify areas for possible collaboration in research relevant to the needs and improvement of the MDATRC.

WU-P was represented by the Vice President for Academic Affairs Dr. Leonita P. Garcia, Wesleyan Community Outreach Program Director, Dr. Juanito C. Leabres, and Alumni Office Director Henry Cocoy DR. Nacpil. MDATRC was represented by Dr. Nelson J. Dancel, Dr. Eduardo V. Elmido, Dr. Villamin F. Patricio, and Dr. Angel Gaite, III. Representing Gawad Kalinga was its Head for South Nueva Ecija, Mr. Lito Saturnino. Also present during the MOA signing was Movement Building Coordinator, Mr. Jonathan Hope Sulit and GK Ateneo representative, Ms. Jenny Espino.
