Signing Ceremony of the Collective Bargaining Agreement

After several months of negotiations, the Wesleyan University-Philippines (WU-P) management and Wesleyan University-Philippines Faculty and Staff Association (WUPFSA), formally signed the improved economic provision of their Collective Bargaining Agreement. The parties were able to agree on this improved economic package during their meeting held on January 17, 2019 and finalize their agreement on January 29, 2019.

The new economic package included, among others, 14th month pay, and the increase of cash incentive to Php 5,000,000.00 from the previous Php 2,500,000.00 Million. The 14th month pay was released last December 2018 by President Pacifico Aniag.

During the signing, Dr. Arnel Panuyas, OIC President of WU-P, assured the Union that the University will always uphold industrial peace, and will respect the rights of its employees, faculty, and staff to organize and collectively bargain, including their right to free expression,. This position is mandated, not only by law, but also by the United Methodist Church Social Principles. The WU-P is an autonomous United Methodist institution operated by the Philippine Central Conference of the United Methodist Church (PCC-UMC).
