Wesleyan lights up giant eco-Christmas tree

November 29, 2017

The Wesleyan community gathered at Plaza Acacia to participate in a Christian service that featured the hanging of wreaths and the lighting of the Christmas tree last November 29.

President Pacifico Aniag led the congregation in lighting the 30-foot high Christmas tree made of recyclable plastic bottles; Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia in hanging the wreaths; and University Chaplain Rev. Francis Fajardo in reciting prayers.

Students, faculty and staff from various colleges and departments attended the service. High ranking academic and administrative officials were also present.

The gathering is in preparation of the Advent Season, the official start of the Christmas season in the Christian liturgical calendar.

Both the Christmas tree and wreaths are significant Christian symbols. ###
