Project SWAN receives national funding

President Paciifico B. Aniag, on behalf of Wesleyan University-Philippines, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIDEETTD) for the prototyping of the Severe Weather Amphibious Navigator (SWAN) project, an amphibious vehicle that can carry up to 20 persons and 200 packs of relief goods in response to the needs of communities in disaster management, particularly during rescue operations.

SWAN is a research initiative by Dr. Ryan John de Lara of the Wesleyan College of Engineering and Computer Technology in cooperation with the Wesleyan Research, Development and Productivity Office as the implementing research station, with collaborating institutions that include Holy Angel University and Don Honorio Ventura Technological State University

This is the first project in Region III to be given national funding through PCIDEETTD, with the grant amounting to 11 million pesos. ###
