Christmas celebration at Wesleyan turns magical

As the clock struck six in the evening last December 20, the faculty and staff of Wesleyan University-Philippines turned into magical creatures inspired by Disney characters.

The University Christmas party dubbed “Magical Christmas” saw deans, heads, faculty and staff dressed as iconic characters from Walt Disney movies. 

The event was highlighted by competitions such as Christmas dance presentation, best costume and “Magical Royalties of the Night”.

Wesleyan lights up giant eco-Christmas tree

The Wesleyan community gathered at Plaza Acacia to participate in a Christian service that featured the hanging of wreaths and the lighting of the Christmas tree last November 29.

President Pacifico Aniag led the congregation in lighting the 30-foot high Christmas tree made of recyclable plastic bottles; Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia in hanging the wreaths; and University Chaplain Rev. Francis Fajardo in reciting prayers.

Wesleyan to implement new curriculum in SY 2018-2019

As a result of the two-day Wesleyan Curriculum Summit last November 16 and 17, it was decided that new curricula for the different programs will be implemented starting the opening of School Year 2018-2019 in August next year.

Commission on Higher Education Region III Chief Education Specialist Lora Yusi, in her summit keynote speech, tackled the challenges and issues of the new educational system in the coming years in the light of the full implementation of the K to 12 program.

Wesleyan Curriculum Summit slated

November 10, 2017

 



Wesleyan University-Philippines, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office III, will conduct a curriculum summit on November 16 and 17 at the University campus.

The activity, to be held in connection with CHED Regional Consultative Conference with higher education institutions held last October 9, aims to keep a total of 290 participants abreast of the shift in the higher education system...

Project SWAN receives national funding

President Paciifico B. Aniag, on behalf of Wesleyan University-Philippines, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) for the prototyping of the Severe Weather Amphibious Navigator (SWAN) project, an amphibious vehicle that can carry up to 20 persons and 200 packs of relief goods in response to the needs of communities in disaster management, particularly during rescue operations.

Wesleyanians prevail in YMCA Provincial Academic Olympics

November 4, 2017

The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) declared Wesleyan University-Philippines as the overall champion in the Provincial Academic Olympics last November 4 at the YMCA Youth Development Center in Cabanatuan City.

The winners in the collegiate, senior high school, junior high school, and elementary categories  will be advancing to the regional competition on November 18 and 19.

CBA emerges as Palaro overall champion

After  five days of competitions, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Dragons bagged home the championship in Palarong Wesleyan 2017.

With a total score of 272, the Dragons won a cash prize of P20,000.

The College of Engineering and Computer Technology (CECT) Tiger Sharks placed second and won P15,000 in cash. The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) Stallions came in third and brought home P10,000.

Palarong Wesleyan 2017 kicks off

The annual University sports competition ‘Palarong Wesleyan’ began last October 10 with eight teams battling for supremacy -- the Eagles of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Dragons of the College of Business and Accountancy, the Stallions of the College of Criminal Justice Education, the Tiger Sharks of the College of Engineering and Computer Technology, the Dauntless Wolves of the College of Education and Social Work, the Phoenix of the College of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Lions of the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Services and the Circuit Riders of the Wesley Divinity School.

In her remaks before declaring the sports intramurals officially open, Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia challenged everybody to turn the friendly competition into an avenue to develop their skills, be acquainted with each other and exemplify Christian virtues.

Wesleyan officials participate in CHED consultative conference

October 9, 2017


Wesleyan academic officials led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia, OIC Registrar Carmelita Tiglao and all deans of academic units attended a regional consultation conference at the Royce Hotel in the Clark Special Economic Zone, Pampanga last October 9.

The event dealt with clarifications regarding the implementation of the new General Education Curriculum (GEC) covered by CHED Memorandum Order No. 20, series of 2013. A related directive also given focus was CMO No.10, series of 2017 concerning students affected by the implementation of the K to 12 program in relation to the new GEC.

COEd, WDS celebrate ‘Critical Thinking Day’

Some 200 students of the College of Education and Wesley Divinity School converged at the University Chapel to celebrate Critical Thinking Day coinciding with International Teachers’ Day last October 5.

Dubbed as “Our Hands Together for Critical Thinking Movement”, the activity was led by the Scientific Reasoning and Critical Thinking classes and Teaching professional class of Prof. Gladys P. Mangiduyos.
