Wesleyan Curriculum Summit slated

Wesleyan University-Philippines, in partnership with the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Regional Office III, will conduct a curriculum summit on November 16 and 17 at the University campus.

Project SWAN receives national funding

President Paciifico B. Aniag, on behalf of Wesleyan University-Philippines, signed a memorandum of agreement with the Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development (PCIEERD) for the prototyping of the Severe Weather Amphibious Navigator (SWAN) project, an amphibious vehicle that can carry up to 20 persons and 200 packs of relief goods in response to the needs of communities in disaster management, particularly during rescue operations.

Wesleyanians prevail in YMCA Provincial Academic Olympics

The Young Men’s Christian Association (YMCA) declared Wesleyan University-Philippines as the overall champion in the Provincial Academic Olympics last November 4 at the YMCA Youth Development Center in Cabanatuan City.

The winners in the collegiate, senior high school, junior high school, and elementary categories  will be advancing to the regional competition on November 18 and 19.

CBA emerges as Palaro overall champion

After  five days of competitions, the College of Business and Accountancy (CBA) Dragons bagged home the championship in Palarong Wesleyan 2017.

With a total score of 272, the Dragons won a cash prize of P20,000.

The College of Engineering and Computer Technology (CECT) Tiger Sharks placed second and won P15,000 in cash. The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) Stallions came in third and brought home P10,000.

Palarong Wesleyan 2017 kicks off

The annual University sports competition ‘Palarong Wesleyan’ began last October 10 with eight teams battling for supremacy -- the Eagles of the College of Arts and Sciences, the Dragons of the College of Business and Accountancy, the Stallions of the College of Criminal Justice Education, the Tiger Sharks of the College of Engineering and Computer Technology, the Dauntless Wolves of the College of Education and Social Work, the Phoenix of the College of Hotel and Tourism Management, the Lions of the College of Nursing and Allied Medical Services and the Circuit Riders of the Wesley Divinity School.

In her remaks before declaring the sports intramurals officially open, Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia challenged everybody to turn the friendly competition into an avenue to develop their skills, be acquainted with each other and exemplify Christian virtues.

Wesleyan officials participate in CHED consultative conference

October 9, 2017


Wesleyan academic officials led by Vice President for Academic Affairs Leonita Garcia, OIC Registrar Carmelita Tiglao and all deans of academic units attended a regional consultation conference at the Royce Hotel in the Clark Special Economic Zone, Pampanga last October 9.

The event dealt with clarifications regarding the implementation of the new General Education Curriculum (GEC) covered by CHED Memorandum Order No. 20, series of 2013. A related directive also given focus was CMO No.10, series of 2017 concerning students affected by the implementation of the K to 12 program in relation to the new GEC.

COEd, WDS celebrate ‘Critical Thinking Day’

Some 200 students of the College of Education and Wesley Divinity School converged at the University Chapel to celebrate Critical Thinking Day coinciding with International Teachers’ Day last October 5.

Dubbed as “Our Hands Together for Critical Thinking Movement”, the activity was led by the Scientific Reasoning and Critical Thinking classes and Teaching professional class of Prof. Gladys P. Mangiduyos.

Legal Education Board visits School of Law and Governance

The Legal Education Board (LEB), after inspecting and evaluating the facilities, curriculum, faculty line-up and other pertinent documents, granted the John Wesley School of Law and Governance (JWSLG) a permit to operate from the first to third year levels of the Bachelor of Laws program.

LEB is the national regulatory agency for legal education.

Transition: Prof. Maria Niña T. Regala, 53

October 3, 2017

Prof. Maria Niña T. Regala, University registrar, passed away last October 3 at Wesleyan University-Philippines Hospital after years of battling breast cancer. She was 53 years old.

Regala was initially employed at Wesleyan in 1987 as a clerk under the Office of the President. She became secretary to the Vice President for Academic Affairs from 1997 to 2002, then secretary

IT Students qualify in TORO IT Elite Championship

Senior IT students were both confirmed championship qualifiers of TORO IT Elite Challenge in the System Administration category.

Raniel Gabriel and Shorouk El-zeany, competed and joined the online elimination last September 29, 2017 synchronized with other competitors from different schools in Central Luzon.  TORO will announce the schedule and details of the championship round very soon.
