CONAMS hosts testimonial dinner for PT, RadTech, X-Ray board passers

The College of Nursing and Allied Medical Sciences (CONAMS) hosted a thanksgiving service and testimonial dinner for the 2017 passers of the Physical Therapist, Radiologic and X-ray Technologist Licensure Examinations.

May Jane Buencamino, who topped the X-ray Technologist exam, thanked Wesleyan for the support and care during her years in the University. She recalled her past experiences of hardships and sacrifices to to pass the board exam.

Aniag: We’re concerned with students’ nutrition

President Pacifico B. Aniag led University officials, faculty and staff in the blessing and soft opening of the newly renovated Food Court last August 4.

In his brief remarks, the President explained that the administration’s take-over of the food stalls is intended to offer students healthy food and, at the same time, monitor their nutrition.

SSC and CLC officers sworn in

The newly elected officers of the Supreme Student Council (SSC) and the college local councils (CLC) took their oaths of office before President Pacifico B. Aniag last August 5.

The SSC officers were James Carl Alamani, president; Nikki Toga, vice president; Edison Lee Broqueza, secretary; Cheska Ramos, treasurer; Eunice Watson, auditor; Carlo Ventosa and Aaron Obedoza, public relations officers; and Faith Almendras and Sheena Maliwat, business managers.

Wesleyanians dominate Top 10 in July 2017 X-ray Tech Licensure Exam

Wesleyan graduates clinched eight out of the Top 10 places in X-ray Technologist Licensure Examination  given by the Professional Regulation Commission in July 2017.

Mary Joy Villegas Buencamino landed in the Number 1 spot with her grade of 84.5%

Placing second was John Michael Gaya Viloria with 83.75%.

Wesleyanians occupied the fourth to ninth spots -- Mark Gil Mactal Cuevas, 83.25%; Alyssa Zandra Dela Cruz Garcia, 83.00%; John Nixon Domingo Talplacido, 82.25%; Lyssa Medina Garcia, 82.00%; Triscia Reguyal Abenoja, 81.75%; and Dean Carlo Reyes Gregorio, 81.00%.

Two computer profs certified as Microsoft educators

Two professors of the College of Engineering and Computer Technology have been recognized as Certified Educators for Technology Literary by the computer software giant, Microsoft.

The certification received by Profs. Alison Ignacio and Christopher Joy Dugtong, implies that they are literate in global technology and can provide students with an education that combines technology and learning in the classroom.

New Wesleyan acad/admin officials named

University President Pacifico B. Aniag has revamped some Wesleyan University-Philippines academic and administrative offices for Academic Year 2017-18 with the promotion of 10 individuals to high positions and the hiring of four new officials

Leading the list is Dr. Leonita Garcia from the Cagayan State University and concurrently vice chair of the Wesleyan Board of Trustees, who was appointed as vice president for academic affairs.

Project SWAN displayed in DOST regional invention contest

Project SWAN, a research initiative by Dean Ryan John de Lara of the College of Engineering and Computer Technology (CECT), was shown in the Regional Invention Contest and Exhibits of the Department of Science and Technology (DOST) from July 25 to 27 at Central Luzon State University in the Science City of Munoz, in celebration of National Science and Technology Week.

Called Severe Weather Amphibious Navigator or Project SWAN, it is in response to the needs of communities in disaster management, especially in rescue operations.

CCJE inks MOA/MOU with PNP, BFP, BJMP

The College of Criminal Justice Education (CCJE) signed a memorandum of agreement and a memorandum of understanding last July 25 with six local government offices for the internship of Criminology students,

The agencies include the Nueva Ecija Police Provincial Office (NEPPO), Nueva Ecija Fire Provincial Office (NEFPO), Nueva Ecija Provincial Jail (NEPJ), Nueva Ecija Provincial Crime Laboratory Office (NEPCLO), Cabanatuan City Police Station (CCPS), and Cabanatuan City District Jail (CCDJ).

TELON films nominated in Sine Gitnang Luzon Originals

Two videos produced by the Wesleyan cultural group, Teatrong Laan para sa Obra Ngayon (TELON), qualified in the first and largest film competition in Central Luzon — Sine Gitnang Luzon Originals (SIGLO) organized by CLTV 36.

The films are “Dog Food” and “Dikap”, both written by Prof. Marky Anthony Miranda, TELON adviser.

“Dog Food” is about a man named Victor who hears strange voices and has an extreme affection for his dog. He is willing to do everything for his pet and in the name of his faith, including killing a person as a sacrificial lamb.

Newly elected Methodist Bishop graces Baccalaureate Service

Reverend Ciriaco Francisco, presiding bishop of the United Methodist Church Manila Episcopal Area, spoke before this year’s graduating students during the Baccalaureate Service held in the University Gym last June 7.

Francisco congratulated the graduating students and called that day a day of thanksgiving, citing St. Paul’s first letter to Thessalonians, “Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.” (1 Th 5:18)
