President Turgano challenges Wesleyan faculty commitment, Bishop Nacpil calls for merging piety and learning

“A good university cannot exist without a committed and dedicated faculty,” Judge Benjamin D. Turgano, University President, remarked during the first faculty conference held at the WU-P auditorium on October 12, 2019.

President Turgano challenged the academic community by posing the question, “Can a Christian university flourish and still be relevant in the era of 4th industrial revolution?” Addressing more than three hundred faculty members of Wesleyan, he presented the newly BOT-approved Five-year Development Plan, which will become the roadmap in achieving the University’s vision of transforming society.

Wesleyan takes over NECSL Season 8 Opening

The Nueva Ecija Collegiate Sports League continues to race beyond limits as its season 8 took place at Wesleyan University-Philippines Gymnasium on October 3, 2019.

The opening program started with the parade of participating school’s teams within the WU-P Gymnasium: “NEUST Phoenix (Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology), WU-P Riders (Wesleyan University-Philippines), Midway College Vikings (Midway College, Inc.), CRT Blue Fox (College of Research and Technology), CIC Kings (College of Immaculate Concepcion), MVGFCI Ambassadors (Manuel V. Gallego Foundation Colleges, Inc.), ELJMC Ravens (Eduardo L. Joson Memorial College), OLSCHO Aces (Our Lady of Sacred Heart College), and CGCI Eagles (Core Gateway College, Inc.)”.

Wesleyan lauds 13 more RMT’s

Wesleyan University-Philippines commended 13 Medical Technology students who passed the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination held on September 21 and 22, 2019.

The Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) announced that a total of 4,743 out of 6,453 passed the Medical Technologist Licensure Examination given by the Board of Medical Technology.

Wesleyan raised more than 40 board topnotchers

Competence is one of the Core Values of Wesleyan University-Philippines. WU-P upholds this Core Value by promoting high academic standards carried out by highly capable faculty members in equipping the academic community with cutting-edge knowledge and skills responsive to community and global development.

Over the years the university has produced more than forty topnotchers, six of which placed first in Licensure Examinations.

In 1985, Leo Vasco G. Dagamac a graduate of BSC Major in Accounting, topped the CPA board exam obtaining 83.60% passing rate. Dagamac served as one of Wesleyan’s Board of Trustees and was affiliated with Chevron-Philippines’ Asia-Pacific Pricing and Planning Department as Regional Manager.

Few years after, Wesleyan’s Joyce Tierra Hilado landed 1st in the 2015 X-RAY Technologist Licensure Examination with a rating of 85.25%. She is now working at Science City Diagnostic Clinic as a sonographer.

WU-P garners high passing rate in Pharmacist Board Exam

Wesleyan University-Philippines, first batch of BS Pharmacy graduates garnered an excellent over-all percentage of 80.95% in the Pharmacist Licensure Examination held on August 3 and 4, 2019.

According to the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC) from a total of 4,455 takers from different schools in the country, 3,097 passed the Licensure Examination given by the Board of Pharmacy. 17 students brought honor and pride to WU-P after making it to the September 2019 licensure examination.

WU-P CBA holds Pinning and Consecration of 62 CBA Practicum Students

“Wherever you go, you bring with you the name of the university”, Dr. Marietta B. Agustin, Acting VPAA, reminded 62 CBA practicum students who will be sent for a 240-hour on-the-job-training.

There were 32 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Marketing Management, 27 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Financial Management, 2 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Banking and Finance, and 1 Bachelor of Science in Accountancy who marched with their parents followed by the CBA faculty and staff, Acting VPAA Marietta B. Agustin, and the University Chaplain Rev. Francis Fajardo.

JHCS is an international, peer reviewed, interdisciplinary, official health and caring research journal of the San Beda University College of Nursing and College of Medicine.

Critical Thinking movement launched, integrated in 5-year strat plan

Members of the Board of Trustees joined the kick-off celebration of Critical Thinking Movement 8th anniversary on September 17, 2019.  It was the first time for the movement to involve the members of the Board of Trustees of Wesleyan University-Philippines. The celebration was conducted through a conversation held together with the Konseho Critiko adviser Gladys P. Mangiduyos, in the presence of the dean of the college, Dr. Ruth C. Alfonso.

A hundred students and faculty from the College of Education (CED), College of Engineering and Wesley Divinity School converged at the bust of Dr. Gloria D. Lacson at the administration building.

WU-P High School Dept. holds SC elections

September 12, 2019

Wesleyan University-Philippines High School Department held the Student Council Election for school year 2019-2020 on September 11, 2019.

With two competing party's, Legit and Abante, for Junior High and Padayon and Sandiwa for Senior High student council positions, a series of campaign stints and a miting de avance were held before the election day.

Shortly after the voting process using computerized election method, the winners were declared. Legit party got a straight win to fill in the positions for the JHS student council.

On the other hand Padayon got the upper hand with eight of their candidates winning the polls, while Sandiwa got the other seven remaining positions for SHS student council.

Elem and High School win Grub Street 2019 Awards

The Graders, Wesleyan University-Philippines Elementary Department official student publication, and The Wesleyanian, WU-P Junior High official student publication, shared a victorious moment as they were both hailed 1st Runner- up in Grub Street 2019 Competition held at Central Luzon State University on September 6 and 7, 2019.

Grub Street, a project of “The Researcher”, official Publication of University Science High School (USHS) of CLSU, is an annual seminar-workshop on campus journalism. It includes inter school journalism competitions.
