University Clinic implements wall-to-wall disinfection to fight mumps

The University Clinic conducted a wall-to-wall disinfection in the Ocampo Building to fight mumps, with the help of the faculty and staff of the Elementary Department and the Administrative Office Housekeeping Unit last February 28.

Afternoon classes in the elementary level were suspended to give way for the disinfection.

As of today, in all levels, the Clinic has confirmed 30 cases of students afflicted with mumps, two with sore eyes and two with chicken pox.

‘The Graders’ bags awards at NSPC

Elementary campus journalists from The Graders bagged awards in this year’s National Schools Press Conference held in Dumaguete City, Negros Oriental from February 19 to 23.

The Graders’ team consisting of Lael Ballesteros, Fitero Garlitos VII, Nabin Tareh Jaber, Jhulia Amor Marquez, Jan Lancelot Ramos, Heart Ventura, and Ma. Ericha Villaseñor won as champion in Collaborative Desktop Publishing (English)

Wesleyan conducts medical and dental mission, blood donation

As part of its social responsibility and in line with its 72nd Founding Anniversary, Wesleyan conducted a medical and dental mission open to all at the University Hospital last February 22.

Services included free CBC test and urinalysis performed by the hospital laboratory.

Meanwhile, Wesleyanians donated bags of blood last February 23 to be stored at the University Hospital Blood Bank

Students turn into social poets

Talents poured out during Digmaan,a spoken word poetry night performance organized by the official student publication, Genré , held at the High School Grounds.

The event tackled social issues through the use of poetic language and acoustic music.

Digmaan Committee Chairperson Jim Barry Bendoy said, “Spoken poetry is a complex thing.”

Touches of ASEAN cultures met at the ”Literary and Socio-cultural Festival” held at the University Auditorium last February 22 in line with the Wesleyan’s 72nd Founding Anniversary.

In her remarks, Dr. Clarafe Gonzales.chair of tje the Literary and Socio-cultural Event, said, “Seventy-two years is no joke. The past years were full of victories, challenges, transitions, innovations and this occasion is one such heritage of our school that we would like to leave to the next generations of stakeholders of the University.”

President Aniag: ‘Resilient, one word to describe Wesleyan’

During the Thanksgiving Service for Wesleyan University-Philippines’ 72nd Founding Anniversary, President Pacifico Aniag mentioned in his speech thar he has commissioned a book about the history of Wesleyan, and upon reading the draft, realized the ups and downs the University had undergone.

Reminiscing the past, the President said that there was a time when the University was on the brink of bankruptcy, with portions of the extension campuses having classrooms made of sawali, among others.
