Accreditation

The Bachelor of Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management (BSHRM) program of the College of Hospitality and Tourism Management (CHTM) is the first such program in the country to be accredited by the Association of Christian Schools, Colleges and Universities Accrediting Agency, Inc. (ACSCU-AAI) in March 2009.

The program attained Level III Accreditation Status on December 13, 2013.

 

Linkages and Networking

Since 2006, the CHTM international on-the-job training in the United States of America has beens made possible through a partnership with First Place Inc. The training, under the Cultural Exchange Program of the US government, provides exposure, experience and opportunities to BSHRM and BS Tourism Management (BSTM) students. Likewise, the program also helps develop students’ character, allowing them to live independently and work in a multi-cultural environment.

The most recent linkage of the College is with Australian Skills Institute (ASI) for the BSHRM and BSTM, including the Business Administration program under College of Business and Accountancy. The program is a modern and unique way to make Australian Qualifications available to students of Wesleyan University–Philippines.

 

Special-use Learning Laboratories

Hotel and Tourism Management occupies the first and second floors of the Millennium Building. There are four lecture rooms at the ground floor and three at the second floor. The CHTM Function Room at the ground floor is fully air-conditioned with a built-in sound system and has a sitting capacity of 120 persons. The area is often used as venue for culminating events prepared by the students as part of their skills training in Food and Beverage Management, Banquet and Catering Management and Events Management.  Likewise, this is also used as a venue for many of the university’s extra-curricular activities such as seminars for small groups, dining area for guests during conferences hosted by the university and other internal events.

At the far end of the CHTM Function Room is a fully equipped Commercial Kitchen Laboratory with stainless equipment and utensils, a spacious baking laboratory, a pantry room, a storage room for equipment, linen and kitchen utensils, a laundry and dishwashing area. The College has an herbs and spices garden to acquaint students on their uses in different culinary preparations. Beside the Millenium Building is ample space for a garden lounge where students can relax and study.  

The College has a Mini-Hotel located at the second floor. It has a reception or front desk area and lounge area, a bar and a coffee shop. The bar area is used for the laboratory of Bartending and Cocktail Mixing subject.  There is a Tourism Office adjacent to the reception area for the simulation of Tourism Management students. It also boasts of a three fully furnished air-conditioned rooms; a standard deluxe room, a suite and an executive room designed to hone the competency skills of HRIM students. There is another spacious Culinary Laboratory with a provision for Cold Kitchen located opposite the lecture rooms at the second floor.
