WUP HR Director elected to EITC National Execom
Prof. Junard C. Benitez, Human Resources Development Director of Wesleyan University – Philippines (WUP) and representing Central Luzon (Region 3), was elected to the executive committee of the Education Industry Tripartite Council (EITC) which held its first ever national convention on February 23-24, 2017 at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel in Ermita, Manila under the auspices of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE).
In the election of national officers who would constitute the executive committee of the EITC, Benitez came up with the fourth highest number of votes from the delegates who represented the sixteen regions of the country in the said convention. He eventually agreed to serve as National Auditor during the post-election caucus conducted among the elected members of the EITC executive committee.
Another delegate from Region 3, Dr. Gina B. Garcia of General De Jesus College (GJC) in San Isidro, Nueva Ecija, was also elected to the ten-member EITC executive committee as Representative for Luzon. Atty. Agnes Velasquez-Rivera, Director for Legal Affairs of Adamson University which was among the hosting institutions and representing the National Capital Region (NCR), agreed to serve as EITC National President.
DOLE Assistant Secretary Ma. Gloria A. Tango administered the oath of office to the newly elected EITC national officers.
Benitez and Garcia were the top delegates of Region 3 to the said convention by virtue of their election as vice chairs for the region’s management and labor sectors, respectively, during a regional convention held on January 18, 2017 in San Fernando City, Pampanga.
Each region in the country was represented to the said convention by at least ten delegates who included the management and labor vice chairs. Every concerned DOLE regional office was considered the regional chair for both management and labor sectors because it was responsible for organizing the regional EITC.
The delegates from the sixteen regions of the country were provided free hotel accommodations at the Waterfront Manila Pavilion Hotel and Casino during the convention. WUP President Hon. Pacifico B. Aniag endorsed the participation of Benitez in the January 18 regional convention in San Fernando City, Pampanga, which paved the way for his attendance in the above-stated EITC national convention and subsequent election to its executive committee.
