Dr. Carmelita A. Tiglao, WU-P Chief Librarian, was the resource speaker on the topic “The Teacher-Librarian as a Curriculum Leader in a K-12 Schools: Preparation for Globalization” during the Aklatan 2016: A Regional Conference on the Art of Librarianship held at the Centennial Hall, Malolos Resort Club Royale, City of Malolos, Bulacan last September 2, 2016. The seminar was sponsored by the Philippine Librarian Association Inc.-Central Luzon Region Librarian Council (PLAI-CeLRLC).

The Library Department in cooperation with the Library Committees and Library Club sponsored the 82nd National Book Week Celebration last November 16-17, 2016. The theme was “Today’s Readers: Inclusivity and Diversity.” This yearly event advocates for the use of libraries and the encouragement of reading habit among Filipinos. It also aims to improve students’ ability to evaluate their own writing skills and their ability to think creatively, systematically and analytically.
The activities conducted were poster making contest, slogan contest, and essay writing contest which were participated in by the Elementary, High School and College students. The judges during the occasion were Dr. Marietta B. Agustin, Director for Research Development and Productivity Office, Mr. Eduardo K. De Guzman, Faculty of the High School Department, Prof. Eufemia C. Ayro and Prof. Arnold C. Eugenio both from the College of Arts and Sciences, and Mr. Redemptor B. Fajardo, Faculty of the Elementary Department.
