OSA Spearheads Freshmen, Transferees Assembly
August 22, 2016 – The Office for the Student Affairs of Wesleyan University – Philippines, Cabanatuan City, through its Director, Dr. Elgin S. Paguirigan, gathered all College freshmen and transferees for the General Assembly at the University gymnasium. A pretty number of students were accompanied by their parents because part of the assembly was the orientation about the University, the academic requirements, and student conduct inside and outside the University.
Emceed by DJ Michael Dennis Valentos, Wesleyan Chamber Singers rendered the opening song and national anthem. College Deans were each given a short moment to convey their welcoming to the students and parents, while the Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Estrella C. Buenaventura, affirmed what the deans mentioned about having chosen Wesleyan as the provider of academic training for the new students. Further, Dr. Buenaventura remarked “Your stay at Wesleyan will be coupled with inspiring academic training and with state-of-the-art facilities which will definitely gratify your longing for academic excellence. Also, the University you have chosen is convenient for a home away from home because members of this academic community treat new comers with fervent welcoming, and you will feel that through Christian unity. And at this program, you will be oriented about our University, your academic requirements, and the student conduct inside and outside the University. I hope that you will indeed learn this morning so that you will know who the true Wesleyanians are.”
Prof. Junard C. Benitez, Director of Human Resource Development Department (HRDD), introduced to the students and parents the Academic and Administrative Officials, stating that should students need assistance that is University-related they can consult said officials.
He likewise introduced the WU-P Hospital Officials. Dr. Venus Vitales, Director for Guidance and Placement Service, discussed the various concerns and services said office is extending to the WU-P community; Prof. Mercinario Santos, Dean of the College of Criminal Justice Education and concurrent Chief of Security Force, discussed the security concerns and traffic policies; Ms. Maria Niña Regala, University Registrar explained the academic requirements; and Dr. Paguirigan oriented the students and parents about the student conduct inside and outside WU-P.
